Game Production Services wins Technology Excellence Award

Cognitive Air Defense Training System recognized by NMTC

Albuquerque, New Mexico—April 10, 2009— Game Production Services (GPS) was honored recently by the New Mexico Technology Council with a TechEx Award.  The company received a Technology Solution Award for their Cognitive Air Defense Training System (CAD-TS) / Engagement Control Station Simulation (ECS2).

The CAD-TS ESC2 teaches Patriot Missile crews how to determine when radar-detected threats are real, improving accuracy and helping lower incidents of fratricide.  The system allows the instructors at the US Army Air Defense Artillery School to show the correlation between abstract 2D radar views and complex 3D space through challenging scenarios.

Patriot Missile crews have traditionally been trained using radar simulations, whiteboards, field manuals and sand tables. The tools necessary to teach the critical skill of visualizing the battle space in three dimensions were unavailable.

Combining a classroom with five projection screens and a simulation of the Engagement Control Station (ECS), the CAD-TS can train up to 64 soldiers per session. Instructors can set up scenarios and communicate with students in the ECS to guide them.

Instructors have found this type of immersive training to be far more effective than traditional training for teaching situational awareness.

The fourth annual NM Technology Excellence Awards were held in Albuquerque on April 2 by the New Mexico Technology Council, the state's largest advocacy group for technology related business.GPS had previously won a TechEx award for Best Integrated System for its Mobile Demonstration Trailer, which was used by Boeing to illustrate the capabilities of the Future Combat Systems platforms.

Companies from across New Mexico took part in this year's competition, which seeks the best and most successful technology products or implementations produced by a New Mexico based company or organization.
