Albuquerque, New Mexico—June 23, 2008
Game Production Services CEO Janeen Anderson was recently added to the board of the Fractal Foundation. Ms. Anderson and her company, GPS, have a long history of contributing to educational efforts in science, technology and engineering at the University of New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College, and Albuquerque Public Schools.
“Janeen Anderson’s background in computer science, engineering, and development of serious games and immersive environments will be a great asset to the Foundation,” said Jonathan Wolfe, Fractal Foundation Executive Director.
The Foundation uses the beauty of fractals to educate and inspire people about mathematics, art, science, chaos theory and nature.
First Friday Fractals, a very popular live show in the Planetarium at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science is produced by the Fractal Foundation. The show features both the science and the art of fractals, together with original, locally-produced music.
Math is transformed into a fun, exciting and beautiful realm to explore in presentations given by the Fractal Foundation for classes ranging from kindergarten through university level. Invariably, the students gain a new understanding of the interconnections between science and art, math and nature.
The Fractal Challenge is an annual competition for middle and high school students who produce fractal artwork using special software. The Foundation also offers interdisciplinary lectures / visual shows about fractals and chaos theory for adult audiences all over the world.
The Fractal Foundation was incorporated in the state of New Mexico in May 2003 as a 501c(3) nonprofit organization. For more information, visit their website at www.fractalfoundation.org/.
