GPS developing enhancements to CAD-TS
Game Production Services has been contracted to develop enhancements to the Cognitive Air Defense Training System (CAD-TS) for the US Army Air Defense Artillery School at Ft. Bliss. The new enhancements, including sister batteries and red vs. blue capability, will be delivered in October, 2008.
The first phase of the system, delivered at the end of 2007, combined a classroom with five projection screens and an immersive simulation of the Engagement Control Station (ECS). Instructors have found this type of immersive training to be far more effective than traditional training.
CAD-TS allows instructors to show the correlation between abstract 2D radar views and complex 3D space through challenging scenarios they create. This helps the crews learn how to determine when radar-detected threats are real, and helps lower incidents of fratricide.
Patriot Missile crews have traditionally been trained using radar simulations, whiteboards, field manuals and sand tables. CAD-TS provides the tools instructors need to teach the critical skill of visualizing the battle space in three dimensions.
CAD-TS was created in collaboration with the Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT).
